baby shower question

So I had a talk with some of my family. Some say that every baby deserves a baby shower, it's a celebration for the baby. And others say only your first born. Well my first born is 6 years old and I have nothing from his baby years. Is it wrong to do a baby shower for this baby?

This baby would be my second but my husband's first. I'm not asking for them to buy me the bigger stuff, I bought my sons on my own when I was 17 years old, I didn't really have a baby shower for him, we had a little party after he was born and I only allowed small things like diapers, soaps, clothes etc.
