baby food

My son will be 8 months old in 2 days.. when he turned 6 months we began feeding him rice cereal.. which he loves.. we tried the oatmeal but every time he eats it he gets constipated. He will not touch baby food.. we have tried every kind of fruit and vegetable from gerber and beech nut. At this age what table foods is he able to have? I'm a first time mom and have no idea what he should be eating at this age besides baby food. Please share some ideas! Thanks ladies
