IUD and tampons

Ok so I got my IUD placed last Wednesday so its been almost a week. My dr told me that I could have sex right away but failed to tell me not to use tampons. I called her today because she also didn't tell me I could bleed up to 3 months after. I've been doing some research and other women said there obgyn said they can use tampons. I just need to know if I can or not because I don't do pads.
