Wic Apt at 8days old?!

I will be formula feeding my baby so Wic is a huge help with that.. I'm due 1/27 but if he doesn't come on his own doc said we'd induce by 2/4 (41weeks) .. Wic made my first apt for after baby on 2/7 assuming he came on his DD. & wants me to bring my son.

Even if my son comes on time he will only be a week old & I don't want to take him any where public like that at least for 2 weeks ! Especially where there's a lot of kids running around ! Are they crazy! Lol..

But on a serious note I need the formula asap,.. should I buy a cam to take with me to the hospital & cover him until my Wic apt ? I forget how it goes , it's been 7 years since my last.

U have to bring baby with u to ur first appointment after baby born! If u don't feel comfortable reschedule ur appointment. They will understand Good Luck

I took my second child to his WIC appointment when he was only a week old. He also needed a special formula we could only get at the pharmacy and like seven 8 oz cases was $215 so we desperately needed help paying for that.  Our WIC office may be different though because there is no one ever there when I go in so it always nice and calm. I would ask your hospital though ahead of time about the formula they supply there. I know at ours if you just ask they will give you some cases or ready to use bottles to take home with you.

The hospital sometimes has ready to feed bottles, that they allow you take, the ones in the baby's cart. Sometimes they give you a bag, that has a can sample. If you need more, just buy a can. I wouldn't want to take my newborn to WIC in the first 2 weeks as well.

Hand sanitizer and keep him covered. They do that to start tracking their growth as early as possible. And do the be surprised if your annoyed by stuff they tell you just smile and nod, that's how I survived wic when my son was little. Here I'm questioning it because it's so far I might not even sign up. Plus my son was breast fed and they have me all this food I never used and I was constantly giving away. I don't want to end up like that again. I need to figure out if the gas vs. the vouchers are even worth it.

Can your SO or mom stay with baby for an hour or two while you're at the appointment? If not, just keep him covered and don't let anyone get too close and wash your hands well when you get home.
