AFP test results? high risk

Melinda
Hi ladies, I just had a call today from the hospital asking me to come in for another ultrasound. I'm 16+4Had ultrasound at 12 weeks but because baby was curled up into a ball they said they couldn't measure behind neck etc, resulting in having my bloods taken for the Down's syndrome tests. Anyways today the hospital rang saying I need to go in for a ultrasound because My blood work has come back at high risk. My AFP levels were high at 2.5 and that results indicate baby could have Spina Bifida. I'm so stressed out, has anyone experienced anything similar? I've had constant spotting throughout my pregnancy varying from bright red to brown, most days light but others heavier where I soak through a pantyliner. Not sure if this is related to high AFP. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
