Genital Wart Removal?

I was recently diagnosed with HPV. When I went to the doctor they put some sort of "acid" on the warts to get rid of them. It was incredibly painful and it's causing a lot of pain through the healing process as well. There are 4 warts that they missed and I cannot bear to go and do the acid again. Is there anything else I can do? Is there anything I might be able to order to put on myself instead of going to the doctor again? Also is there anything I can do to prevent them from coming back?
