Can someone explain what the percentile to me??

My last u/s was when i was 25 weeks and today my for visit he said her growth is good that shes 44 percentile. What exactly does that mean??  I know not to worry, because he said shes right on track, but just want to know what it means lol

Percentile is based on a scale of 100. Your child is growing at the 44th percentile meaning she is larger than 43 babies and smaller than 57. 50 is the average and the mid-point. Anywhere near that point is a really good thing!!! If your doctor is not concerned than do no worry.  :)  After about 20 weeks babies start growing at varying rates so they start using a percentile system to give the doctors a gage to go by.

I just came from my doctor appoinment and my doctor told me that mine is a 53 percentile..
