How do you keep your LO warm at night?

Question

The doctor has asked us to stop swaddling as my babe kicks out of it. This is a hard habit to break! My biggest concern is how cold his hands get at night. Any tips on how to help? I feel like mits and the onesies that fold over only help slightly, and are all getting too small for him!

We keep his hands uncovered so he can suck. But house is 70 degrees and he's in pj's and sleep sack. His hands sometimes feel cold but ether they aren't overheated.

My sons hands get cold but his body is warm. I think it's okay as long as he's not cold. But if you want to, put hand mittens on him or even socks.

As long as his torso is warm it's ok if his hands feel cold.

We use a Halo sleepsack, which is amazing!! She wears a onesie underneath and we use the micro fleece sleepsack because we live in a colder climate. She stays warm but her hands get a little cold. Doesn't seem to bother her though. I warm them up when I feed her in the middle of the night.

My son is 15 weeks and I still swaddle especially if he's overtired. Its the only way he will sleep in his crib

My daughter is a little heater. She sweats in fleece pjs or sleep sacks lately. Her hands are always icicles though!

Sleep sack or baby Merlin.

Baby Merlin looks like it would be hot but my baby has never sweat in it. Just put them in the Merlin suit with only a diaper on. His bare feet and hands should keep his temp regulated. I sometimes put socks on his little feet though. :)

I just ordered the magic Merlin cause I am planning to pit him to sleep without swaddling as he is nearing the age when he willeoll over. Fingers crossed. I really hope it works for us

Sleep slacks are amazing. We also have warmer flannel pjs if needed and our little girl gets the infrared heater in her room to maintain a constant comfortable temp. We heat with a wood stove so her room gets a little cooler at night with the door closed even though there's a floor vent in her room right above it. We used to use the heater but we gave it up for her. Now we just bundle up under the covers on the super cold nights 😄

We let her sleep in her zippered footed pj's and then put a swaddle blanket lightly over her legs.
