Blankets in the crib with baby

No bashing I am just a first time mom and want an honest opinion on blankets in the crib with the baby I get the sids risk but I know alot of parents who do it once the baby picks on his or hear head well and can roll over. My 14 week old isn't in his crib yet but we will be transitioning him soon and I want to know when everyone thinks it's ok to put a blanket with him.
