TMI- really smelly period blood???? PCOS

Question

Ok so this is embarrassing but I'm concerned. My SO and I have been ttc for over a year now. I have PCOS and my last period was October 14th 2016. I just started my period again on January 17th 2017. My periods are extremely irregular. 
I have noticed with the last 2 periods that the blood smells soooo disgusting. I can't even explain the smell it's like rotting flesh or something. I have never smelled anything like it. 
My vagina doesn't smell or anything it's just the blood. 
Should I be worried?! Wtf could be causing this ??? 
I probably won't respond back bc I'm embarrassed but thank you all in advance ! :)

Just thinking how long it's been since your last period, would be the cause of the smell. I mean that's super long not having a period? I would assume that the blood is just old and all that fluids. If your still stressing see the doctor. 😉

I have pcos as well. My ob/gyn put me on Provera. It gives me a period every other month. You might want to talk to your ob. I had that problem before I went to my Dr. She said after you haven't had a period in so long it can cause the blood to have a odor. The Provera my Dr prescribed me is just progesterone and helps you ovulate more regularly.

No I deal with the same thing with PCOS. No STI or STD. Everything from my pap smear came back normal. Recently I started having this smell that is embarrassing. My PCP told me that it is old blood. Currently, we are working to see how this can be corrected. I know you struggle and unfortunately, there is not enough research other than dieting to help with this issue. It's annoying that every time you mention a smell or something after explaining this condition the first thing people assume is an infection

Unless this is unique to PCOS (I don't know much about it) I would see a doctor.  Generally smelly discharge indicates some type of infection.

Could just be that the periods are so far apart and the blood is old.

The smell of our period comes from the iron. The higher iron in ur body the more of a smell there is but if it's a bad smell and not just strong then call ur doctor asap. And don't be embarrassed bc we all have a smell one time or another lol.
