What are some things to consider before buying a home and things I should add to the expenses such as bill, house insurance etc.

Being debt free.
Having 20% down payment
Having ef of 3 to 6 month 
Plus at least 5k for house maintenance-you will need it! No house is perfect. Plus there are so many extras you will find yourself buying.

Things to consider
Lawn maintenance 
Ask for blinds to stay. Some people take them for some odd reason.
Make sure there are gutters and sufficient downspouts and the the yard lays away from the house. 
Consider if the air/heat is in the floor or on the wall. 
Check the quality of the drywall. I have lived in home where a simple hung picture warps it because of bad quality.

We have moved so many times, the way the house looks on the inside can be changed, but how the house is built cannot!

Closing costs. Inspection costs. Private mortgage insurance if you need it with your loan. Taxes. Homeowners insurance. Life insurance (esp if you're buying with someone else, you'll both need a policy) your utilities, water/electric/gas or oil/cable and internet/garbage/sewer. Your car insurance may change in amount depending on the area you move. Then you have your gas and grocery budget. I think that's all I pay for.

Utilities will most likely cost more, and you have to pay for trash. Make sure you have a little money stashed away for unexpected problems. Plumbers are expensive!!
