It completely depends on the couple. I firmly believe if that you can't see yourself marrying the person after a year, it's time to move on.

For me, we got engaged within 4 months of dating.

For me, im in my 20s. So im at the age where im looking to find the one I want to marry. Typically i give it a year up to two years to get to know the person. If my man has no intentions of marrying me or settling down, i break up with him. As hard as it is, i am not going to waste my time. Im not going to be in  a 6year+ relationship, if my man can't propose. My time is precious and i am not getting any younger. I don't date just to date, i date to find my future husband

Depends. My husband and I dated almost 5 years before getting engaged. We planned on getting married basically all along but I was in school and doing a lot and we wanted to make sure we would never chance getting a divorce and that God had us where we needed to be first. It was definitely worth the wait. Married over a year now and still madly in love and happy.

There's really no set time some people stay together forever like their married but never get married because one or the other or both just didn't want to. Best thing to do is talk to your SO to get their view on marriage it may not be something their interested in.
