When visiting family friends (over night) do you help out with chores?

Question

Chores example:- making your own bed
- pick up your own hair in bathroom after showering
- help set the table, at least your own plate, cup and utensils before meals
- put away your own plate, cup & utensils after you eat
- upon leaving, ask where you can put used towels & beddings instead of just leaving them

I personally do all of the above. I often do more. The reason I asked is because I have people over who doesn't do any of the above, and I think by doing so, it makes you a good guest and people will have more insentive to invite you over again  Thoughts?

Yeah, I do, but I've also had guests that don't & I don't really mind. They at least put their dishes in the sink & throw their trash away, but I don't mind being a good host. I mean it takes, what, 10mins to clean up after them? Tops? I get what you're saying but it's just not something that's ever bothered me. I enjoy cleaning usually. & unless someone makes a huge mess and leaves it or something, them not making their bed isn't going to dissuade me from inviting them over again.

I also used to take care of a man who had Down Syndrome and early onset Alzheimer's, he would stay at my house for half of the week. He wore diapers and would poop himself constantly, so every time he sat down on the toilet he would get poop all over it. He'd also drink straight get from the jug & dig his hands into jars of peanut butter & whatnot. The man took like 4 showers a day! He was a beautiful soul & I miss him like crazy, but getting used to having a guest like that? Well, I guess nothing bothers me anymore lol.

Not relevant but I'm gonna add it anyway; I also used to care for his mother occasionally who also had severe Alzheimer's, also wore diapers, and let me tell ya. You haven't lived until you've scrubbed poop out of an 85yr old woman's vagina who's yelling at you in German, thinking you're trying to kill her. Good times.

I always clean up my own messes. No one is my maid. If someone were staying with me I'd expect them to clean up their own messes as well, but they don't have to go to the extreme like making the bed

Um yeah, its common courtesy. It would be rude to just make messes all over someone else's house and not clean up. But for some reason when people come over my house I tell them they're guests and they shouldn't do anything. It's weird but that's just me though.

Always. I often clean far more than just my mess to be helpful and in not too fond of having guests that don't. If you can't even fold the blankets you used, please don't drink enough to need to stay.

When I stay anywhere, I clean up my mess. I usually end up helping who I stay with clean, because we're messy teenagers and if we clean faster we can go do things lmao
