In a known-to-be-safe, residential neighbourhood?

I grew up in the city and a known drug dealer used to walk me from the bus stop to my building door if he saw me getting home late. 😪

He called me "princess" (we never exchanged names) and yelled at guys who catcalling, saying I'm a little girl and they should be ashamed of themselves. 😏

Mom freaked out when I told her about it but after meeting him she relaxed...and he started walking her too if she was out late. 🤣

I've walked alone in the dark in every type of neighborhood since I was about 10 lol

Not anymore. I've had a couple scary situations where I felt really lucky to make it out of.

One of them, I was walking back to my car after a concert (it was in s parking garage. And I walked past a group of guys hanging out by their car and they started yelling at me and whistling and saying "come here baby!" Then a couple of them started walking after me.... I got really lucky because a group of 3 guys that had been at the same show as me saw it and they got inbetween me and the creepy guys and started yelling at them to leave me alone. One of them walked my back to my car while the other 2 stayed behind threatening to kick their asses. ❤

Yes. But I am military, a blackbelt, a self defense instructor and prior law enforcement. I won't go downtown on protest days during pregnancy, though, too risky. But nighttime has never scared me, attacks don't increase in frequency at night by much.

If I can walk at night in the city then I can sure as hell walk in a basic neighborhood.

Some of us have no choice. We have our life to leave, errands to run, work and university to go. Sometimes coming back home late at night is a daily task. Choosing not to walk alone at night is a luxury.
