So my boyfriend of 4 months just turned 19 and I'm 16, my friends think it's bad because he is so old but we have never had any problems, is it bad?

Be careful though.

While a lot of people can say and agree to, "It's 2017, let's stop this anti-age gap drama," in some cases it's still illegal.

I'm not sure where you're from, but in Australia it is legal for anyone of legal consensual age (16) to date anyone from 16 - 17 years old. But at 18, you are legally considered an adult. Therefore, if you're having sex with someone who is NOT legally considered an adult, even though they're above the consensual age, it can be considered statutory rape.

I too was 16 - turning 17 (damn late year birthdays) when I started dating a 20 year old. I had to deal with the drama of knowing our relationship couldn't be considered 'legal' until I was 18. We eventually broke up when I was 20 and he was 23 (3 year age difference); when our relationship was 'legal.'

Since then I started dating someone even older. So I mean... I don't have a problem with age gaps, even big ones. But be very careful of who you talk to about your relationship. Some people - like concerned adults, may not see it like you do and make it a legal matter.

This was literally my boyfriend and I except our first year together he turned 18 and I was still 15. If he cares for you, you trust him, and like him, go for it! I've had the happiest three years of my life with my older man! 😍

It's really only all that more controversial when you're in your real early 20's and lower. Give it five years and your age gap will mean next to nothing 🙂

3 years isn't bad at all. My mom is 10 years older than my dad so I think with a three year age gap you'll be okay😊

Not really it doesn't really matter once you're older I know people that get married with 4-8 year age differences as long as you're both happy that's all that matters
