About going with babies on airplanes?  Can i take a baby blanket for my baby (5mo) to cover her during the airplane?

Absolutely u can. A 5 month old will need to be held in ur arms. U check in the stroller and car seat. They take them at the gate,  they will be waiting outside the plane door after landing.
U get a to take the diaper bag, stroller and car seat at no extra cost. 
U can have a blanket and whatever u want for ur baby to be comfy. We traveled with our daughter at 8 weeks. She slept the whole time. .. short flight- 2 hrs, but still,  it was awesome !

Babies need a pacifier or bottle or something like that to suck on during take off and landing. You can bring blanket. You get a carry on and diaper bag. If baby is on your lap for duration then car seat goes under plane when loading if you paid for babies seat car seat goes in seat I wanna say front facing but ask flight attendant. I think I remember trying to do rear facing like in car and it didn't work n flight attendant said front facing bit that was a long time ago I could b wrong.

I travelled with my son for 18 hours in December, he was 4 months. I took his stroller and car seat all the way to the airplane door then they took it away. Here is the thing though, on the way out I didn't have the stroller! It was gone with my luggage and had to carry my son and two big heavy diaper bags alll the way out. It was garbage.
Don't take too many things and make sure things r easy to find.
