My SO grinds his teeth in his sleep any tips?

So my SO started grinding his teeth in his sleep a few weeks ago and I hate it! Plus I know it's bad for your mouth and teeth so whenever I catch him doing it I'll gently stroke his face and it seems to stop him for the time being. Does any one else had this problem with their SO? If so what helped you?

I'm the teeth grinder in my marriage 😩! I usually only grind my teeth during periods of high stress. So I did it for a week during finals and then during ivf. I think he needs a destress session.

Tell him to get a "nightguard" made at his next dental appointment. I have one that is bleach tray weight, so it practically feels like there isn't even anything in my mouth but just gives me enough cushion that I don't wear away my teeth and/or wake up with a sore jaw... and on days where I am feeling stressed and grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw, I can wear it in public and no one notices!

Thanks for the tips everyone! It's so weird because he says his jaw doesn't hurt in the morning. I'm going to try tomorrow and see if he will get a mouth guard, he's iffy on sleeping with something his mouth 🙄

He needs to have his dentist make him a mouth guard. The ones at the store are made to fut everyone, so that would be a waste of money

Mouthguard. My husband uses one that he got at the drugstore & customized to his mouth according to the instructions by boiling it. (Bonus: helps with snoring too!)

I also do this terribly.  My dentist had to make me a customized mouth guard to use at night.

Honestly the best thing to do in my opinion is to check out techniques online to relax the jaw muscles, just to save money or go to the dentist. They can make a custom mouth guard to help prevent the grinding. I clench my teeth at night and sometimes grind. It has to do with the muscles. If you can find videos to try and relax the jaw muscles maybe try that first. it'll take time l, like therapy. If not I'd highly recommend going to the dentist.
