Contractions WAY more intense after breaking of water?

After reading other mothers birth stories, it seems like a common theme that contractions got way more intense and painful during an induction of labor after they broke your bag of water.  I know that was the case for me!  My contractions were 1 or 2 with pitocin and about 10 minutes after they broke my water, they were an 8 or 9 out of 10 on a pain scale.  I went from 4cm prior to complete and pushing within 2 hours.

My goal was to go medication free but ended up getting an epidural.  I question whether I would have been more prepared and able to cope if they would have warned me that this could happen.  It got intense so quickly and contractions were coming every 2 minutes that it took me by surprise and I didn't handle it well.

I am so lucky my water broke only 13 minutes before he was born. My contractions were already coming on top of each other before that (and I was unmedicated), the nurse was watching the monitor like "wow you're not getting a break are you?" After my water broke they did get a lot more painful but the pain was replaced by panic a couple minutes later when I felt the need to push.

My membranes ruptured naturally and I found labour intensified (I had back labour) but I think because I practiced hypnobirthing I was able to labour through it with my partner and doula. I ended up only taking homeopathic remedies and arnica in my water.

I was set to be induced, but started laboring on my own that morning. My water broke on its own and after that the contractions were too close and too intense. I was totally open to an epidural going in and after that was more than happy to have one.

My water broke before I ever had any contractions and I wasn't even sure it was my water. My husband and I had just had sex so I partially thought it was semen. I didn't have any contractions for about three hours and then all of a sudden they hit me like a ton of bricks. I went from having a contraction every 10-15 minutes to one a minute in the course of about 25 minutes. We almost didn't make it to the hospital, I was 9 centimeters when we got there. I only pushed for about 20 minutes and my son was born.

My water broke and I had a 44 hour labor. I chose to stay home and labor as long as I could and only spent 4 hours in the hospital before I had my daughter. I was able to do it naturally, but I was very focused, determined, had a good support team behind me, and also had a bunch of education and tools to guide me. I think that labor is what you mentally make it to be (aside from true medical issues and emergencies). Women can power through so much.

I wouldn't really know. They induced at 34w because my water broke. I wasn't laboring at all until the induction finally kicked in and go things started... contractions were super painful from the get go. I made it through without the epidural, but I was begging for it shortly before the time came to push... I just happened to be far enough gone it was too late (which was good, since it was my plan).

I hope I get to experience natural labor with the second. I have to believe it would be better than this.

This was the same in my case. Contractions were bad but I was able to manage them until they broke my water. I thought the pain would be around the same upon it was time to push but was never warned that they would be like that once my water was broken. I wanted to have a medication free birth as well but ended up having a c-section bc I was in labor for so long after they broke my water n baby girl was getting less oxygen. I honestly wish I never had to get induced bc once they broke my water my delivery was one of the worst days of my life, i did get my princess out of it but still one of the worst.
