First time mommy, what to buy? Clock ticking!

Not really interested in the whole wait until after the babyshower thing. I'm 32 weeks and all we have is 88 nb diapers and wipes, what do you buy that people normally don't buy for you and bring to the babyshower? I'm trying to be prepared and I'm tired of waiting now. I'm getting close and baby could be here any time. Help!

As far as diapers go I found this list! Don't know how true it is! But, I do know babies spend most of the time in size 3!

I got ALOT of clothes. I'm not going to have to buy this baby any clothes until he's 2 and I'm not even joking. So I would say buy the big things like crib, car seat, furniture, etc, and let everyone else buy the toys and clothes

Oh I understand how you feel . I don't have anything really but clothes and my baby shower isn't until Feb 9th and my baby is already dropping and his head is already down.

I haven't had my shower, but from attending them, people usually bring clothes, stuffed animals, blankets, and diapers. Sometimes people will pool money together to get you a big item, but I wouldn't bank on it. If I were you I would pretty much buy everything you feel baby needs but clothes.

Its difficult because if you havent asked people for specific things its hard to know what you will get but things you will definitely need straight away are - plenty of vests, loads of babygrows/sleepsuits, little comfortable outfits, pram?, carseat, bottles (if not breastfeeding), formula, steriliser, dummies (if using them), socks, hats, bibs, a baby bath (much easier when they are teeny on your back), baby towels, a little set of nail clippers, soft hair brush/comb, baby bouncers/swings are always good when they are a little bit older than newborns, baby gyms are also good to stimulate senses, moses basket or crib, plenty of blankets, cellular blankets are good when they are new borns as if for any reason it travels up when sleeping & manages to cover their face they can still breathe, grobags are good when a little older, thermometer, pramsuits or jackets, cardigans .. I think thats everything for the first couple of months anyway. Nappies you can either buy in bulk and stock up or wait and see what brand suits your baby best and then buy weekly/fortnightly/monthly and factor the costs into your shopping budget xxx

I personally bought my swing , bouncer , bassinet , a bunch of clothes , his travel system , sterilizer , my diaper bag , bottles , bath stuff , I pretty much bought everything so there's not much left for guests to get me anything I'm just accepting gift cards , bath stuff , and diapers even though I have a good size diaper stash already

All of my friends that had babies said they could basically go right into size 1 diapers when they brought them home. So I wouldn't worry too much about newborn diapers. Size 2 they don't stay in very long. They're in size 3 the longest I believe. Every baby is different tho! And you honestly won't need a crib right away if you don't want it can't get right away. We got a sleeper swing for the baby to sleep in and it's duel purpose and can readjust and sit up to be a swing during the day and it's a bassinet at night.

We have the crib, wipes, diapers, we bought closet organizers. We also bought some outfits and my mom has sent us a bunch of outfits. Besides the crib the only other big purchase we've received is our travel system which my dad purchased and that was taken off the registry. We've saved enough that whatever we don't get at the baby shower, we can purchase ourselves afterwards.

Buy the big stuff keep the little stuff on your registry.  For our first, grand parents bought big ticket items like the crib and matching dresser. We bought the car seat, stroller, swing, bouncy seat and high chair. Baby bath and cheaper items were bought by others. We had tons of clothes and tons of diapers. So many diapers that I gave some away on free giveaway groups.  I wouldn't buy diapers if you are having a baby shower.

For diapers, my son started in a size NB. You'll probably end up bringing some home from the hospital (take whatever supplies are in you room home with you!). He didn't stay in that size long because he was an 8lb 4oz baby to start with. Also...Keep in mind that you may switch diaper types around size three. We used swaddles while he was a baby, but as soon as he started moving around and crawling...we switched to cruisers.

We didnt have a shower this time (second kid - no one cares, lol), so I just stocked the baby supplies with everything we'd need for the first week and a half or so. One box of NB diapers, a case of wipes, Vaseline. All of the bottles are sterilized and ready to go and I bought a small can of formula because my boobs don't work.

I plan to try to breastfeed again this time so I went ahead and bought my own breastfeeding stuff and pump stuff. With my first I needed a shield so I bought that and packed it for the hospital already
