Cousin names too similar?

I have a niece named Avery, & I like the name Aven (for either boy or girl - it's a family name on my SO's side) They will be 3 years apart. We all live in the same town so they will grow up together. Are they way too similar or not really a big deal?

My sister and i have similar names and have been confused our whole lives. It doesnt bother us though. So if you are okay with people possibly getting the names confused, then go for it. :)

The only issue I see would be calling them both Ave in short. My daughter is Avery and we say Ave a lot. If you could see yourself shortening Aven to Ave at all (although I never would've guessed I'd use Ave before she was actually born haha), then you might have the occasional mix up when together. But other than that, I don't think it would be a big deal.
