Rice Cereal! Baby food

Have You given your baby any rice cereal oatmeal or baby food yet? I'm going to ask when to start at his 4 month appointment next Monday... just curious if any mommies out there have tried it my friend started with her daughter at 4 months I heard anywhere from 4-6 months what's your look on in?
