Is sex safe during the first trimester?

Question

I was just wondering if it's safe to be having sex during the first trimester. I've had sex twice (I'm 4w1d) and after it feels like cramps. I've been told it's because my uterus is expanding, but my first pregnancy 8 years ago ended in miscarriage and I want to be sure.

My doctor told be sex is fine.  You may feel cramps after orgasms but totally safe
