Nice gesture or just plain weird?

Quick background; my SIL has an 8 year old son who she didn't breastfeed because he refused to latch on.

My SIL now has a 1 month old girl and she is trying to breastfeed her. My hubby and I visited her yesterday and I asked her how the breastfeeding was going. She said the baby doesn't always latch on right and that she is supplementing with formula. She also said she is pumping about 1oz per breast and that her nipples hurt. So in summary she seemed a lil down by the whole breastfeeding subject.

On the drive home, I asked my hubby if it would be weird to offer my SIL some of my breastmilk since she seems to be struggling and she mentioned that the baby doesn't like the formula they bought.

My hubby thought it was a good idea to offer. But the more I think about it, the more I'm second guessing myself.

Would it be weird to offer to give her some of my breastmilk?

Like, what if she gets offended by the offer?

Or what if she finds the offer to be gross or out of line?

Also, how would I even bring up the subject of offering to give her some my breastmilk in a way that is respectful?

All input would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
