Just found out I have gestational diabetes! Don't know much about it I'm pregnant with twins what do I worry about?

I've never had gestational diabetes, but I know a lot about it... Basically your pancreas isn't producing enough natural insulin for the amount of carbohydrates/sugar you're consuming. I recommend removing flour, sugar and fried foods from your diet. Stick to one ingredient & healthy foods (white proteins, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, beans, yogurt and hummus etc.). Do not eat fruit for breakfast, wait until at least 10-10:30AM, because your liver naturally flushes itself each morning. Which means you tend to have higher blood glucose levels in the morning. An hour after you eat you're going to want to test your blood glucose level, and it needs to be under 130. Go for a walk after you eat to lower glucose levels. Instead of eating three times a day you're going to want to eat five to six smaller meals every 3 hours. If glucose levels are not kept under 130 there's a higher risk to giving birth to a huge baby and baby has a higher risk to being prone to diabetes. Best of luck! ❤

It's hard to know I don't understand how u just get it I eat fairly healthy and even more so when pregnant! I eat like wholemeal bread and rice and pastas I never had this in my first pregnancy I my diet was worse then..i just want to know what I can do to keep it at bay as my pregnancy is high risk enough with it being twins!!

I take my test next month but I got a 2+ sugars in my urine so I'm on the "watch" list. My doctor didn't put me on a diet just said to eat way less carbs and no sugar and also no spicy foods. I have been trying to google diet plans but I'm just so lost. I just want someone to tell me what to eat like a week plan that I can repeat. I even asked a friend who has had this 3 times and her explanation was even more confusing.

I didn't have it with my first, but I was diagnosed this time at 13 weeks. I'm 25+3 right now. Up until the past couple of days, sugars have been fine. I eat a ton of protein. I love Triple Zero Vanilla Greek yogurt, cheese, and whole wheat Ritz crackers. I promise the carb counting gets easier with time! The one good that's guaranteed to spike my sugar is milk. I keep a good journal so I can tell what is spiking my sugar and what is okay.

I have it also! I was freaking out also. I found out last week at 25 weeks. Now, a week later, it is not bad at all! You get to eat as much meat and cheese as you want! I still have some ice cream as my snack before bed.

I feel like all I do is think about food now and calculating carbs in my head. I have gone out to dinner and haven't had an issue. In the past week, my sugar only was high once. It was also only by 3.

The checking of the sugar is not bad also. At the beginning, I was checking my blood so much just to see where it was at. I was a little obsessed. Now I just do it the 4 times they say.

I just tell myself that I am giving my baby way more protein than I was before! I was eating so much crap before getting GB. Now I still have some yummy desserts but in moderation.

I had it with my first and prob doomed with this baby to have it again. However, it's not as bad as you'd think. Just count carbs (gets easier with time) learn what foods spike your sugar and what foods are considered safe etc... I ate lots of meats and cheeses. Limited my sugary foods and carbs. 
It kept me disciplined which I did like. Unlike how I am eating now. I will know next month if I pass or fail the test. Feel free to talk to me if you have any questions
