Parents that smoke?

So my dad and his fiancé and all of his friends heavily smoke in his house. We haven't told our parents that we're pregnant yet as I am only four weeks. I just don't feel comfortable going over there anymore, because of all of the smoke. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do or say? I am very close to my dad and haven't been able to go over since we found out.

Well second hand smoke can affect the baby too. To be exact it can cause low birth weight, chest infections that will land your baby in the E.R, asthma, miscarriage or crib death. So, yeah tell him.

Invite them to your home, or make excuses for why you can't go over there. "I'm sick" "I have plans" etc. until you're ready to tell them you're pregnant. And then at that point, hopefully they will respect you enough to understand why you don't want to go over there for the babies health.

Are you asking for excuses before your ready to reveal the news, or do you mean how to address it without them getting upset?

My husbands aunt does exactly the same thing and she knows I'm pregnant! Seriously 🙄

Me personally I'd say: it's their house. They make the rules in their house and I would not find it appropriate to tell him what to leave in his house. I'm very sure he doesn't smoke because he thinks it's healthy, so I don't know if the 'healthy reasoning' will work well. 
You can opt inviting him in your house as long as he doesn't know and when you're ready to tell him you're pregnant, tell him that because you fear the consequences of the smoking on his grandchild you give him two possibilities:
A. You visit him but only shortly. No dinners, no long talks. Just 15 minutes, 30 minutes at most and you're out. He must be able to resist smoking a cigarette for 30 minutes (but of course the smoke of the past cigarettes will still be there)
B. If he is able to control himself and people in his house so everyone refrains from smoking, then you'd love to stay longer.
Maybe you can offer this as a chance to determine to quit smoking? For his grandchild?

Explain that it's his house and you don't want to control what he does just simply and nicely ask him not to smoke in the home when you are there.

We just haven't gone to his house since we found out. And yes I know the side effects of it. Thank you though :-)
