Abnormal Pap during Pregnancy? HELP

Question

Today I received a call from Family Planning (I used to go there before I found out I was pregnant) and they said they had some news for me.

I knew I didn't have an STD, for a fact. And I knew for a fact my future husband would never touch another person.

The woman said that this was there second Pap smear that I have had that has come back "Abnormal", but without HPV. She offered no explanation of what it could be and asked if I'm a smoker and whatnot and I assured her, I'm a non-smoker, decently healthy, pregnant woman who takes prenatals everyday.

She said that there is a possibility that it could be cervical cancer and that it was "good that I'm taking care of myself." So... here I am.

Pregnant (4weeks,3days), emotional, and terrified.

Does anyone else have any experience with having an abnormal Pap during pregnancy? And what did you do about it and how was your turnout?

I had an abnormal pap with my son and my ob told me that it can be fixed when I delivered. I had another pap at my 6 week pp check up and that came back normal. Hopefully it's the same for you. They told me they couldn't say it was hpv because my age and it wasn't cancer. It's scary I know but just try to stay positive

My mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer while pregnant with me, she had it scrapped out after she gave birth to me.

I had an abnormal pap...I was starting to get a yeast infection and it threw off the test. She re-tested me and all was great.

I had an abnormal Pap smear when I've gotten them while pregnant. This time they are going to do a colposcopy when I'm 14 weeks and if they see anything abnormal they are going to take a biopsy

I had an abnormal Pap with "pre-cancerous" cells, and I also tested negative for HPV. However, I wasn't pregnant. They basically singed a very slim area of my cervix to kill those cells, and I have had normal paps for years since.

It's a scary thing to be told, but it's so common. Whether they treat it before or after the pregnancy, everything will be ok.

Abnormal paps are insanely common and usually resolve themselves. Almost all women will have one in a lifetime :) I did and it ended up being nothing. You'll just be watched more closely and odds are it'll be nothing.
