10 Days late

My husband and I spent a year and a half trying to conceive and met with a fertility specialist and did all the testing. We were told that it would require a lot of drugs and money so we decided not to pursue it any further. Because we were pretty much told we can't get pregnant by ourselves we've done nothing to prevent it. Now I'm 10 days late. I took a test 2 days ago and it was negative. My periods are usually like clock work. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it's so hard not to. Anyone else been this late and receive a positive result?
