Nothing wrong with that... my fiance told me he sucks at it and he encouraged me to choose something I love.  
Mine is a black titanium ring with a heart shaped stone. It was 450 bucks and I love it.

I feel the guy should do it. Because he's putting all his thought, effort , and heart into it for you.

Totally fine. Marriage was a discussion with us for awhile, and my hubs would show me pics of rings he thought I would like and I hated them. I found something on etsy I loved and we took the design to a local jeweler and he recreated it for us.
