Trying to not over think it
I am 37+3 today and think I've started losing my mucus plug. I was on bed rest since 28 weeks because of preterm labor contractions. Yes, I've had a lot of contractions since the beginning of December, some of them very strong (couldn't talk through them, lasting 2+ minutes, and coming every 5 mins). I've been in to the hospital 3 times with contractions and each time my cervix was closed, so was just told to rest and see how far I could keep the baby in. (Of course I was given steroid shots just in case). Just as background to my situation, I have uterine fibroids and polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid), so at one of my last checkups, my fundal height was measured at 43 weeks. Yes, I am big, thankfully, baby has been measuring a good size as well. But at my last appointment, my doctor got the paperwork going to schedule an induction for me so that I don't go past 39 weeks because of the fluid levels. She had also checked me at that appointment and told me I had "barely any change" to my cervix. Since that appointment, I've been moving around more, trying to get something going with my cervix and all it seemed to be doing was making my contractions lessen. Then this morning I took a little catnap on the couch (since sleeping has been difficult for me at night) and woke up to spotting and mild cramping. I've since visited the bathroom several times and think I've started losing part of my mucus plug. I don't want to get my hopes up but could this be the start of the real deal? I thought for sure that I'd have stronger contractions to indicate the start of labor.
