Question

today is the first day i started my birth control. Its a small pill but the reviews ive been reading scare the hell out of me. Im really scared what it will do to me. Do any of yall take it? Or know anyone who does? And if so, can you please tell me what is does to you?

This was the very first BC I was on when I was 16-17, I used it to regulate my periods and reduce my acne, and to have it well established if I ever chose to suddenly lose my virginity. I was on it for a year and had no problems except for a yeast infection in the first month, which was probably due to accidentally using scented tampons, or it could have been a combination of that and the changing pH. Anyway, I stopped it because I stopped going to the free clinic I had been getting it from. A year later, I'm put on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, which is the same thing, just different in that it is what was offered to me by my primary care physician and insurance company. I'd been using that until November when I switched to Nuvaring so that I wouldn't have to worry about yet another pill as I already take a few regularly. Each pill/method is different on your body, and things change over time until you are fully developed mind/body at age 25, and even after that. This pill may work for a little while and then things may change like mood swings or bad PMS or heavy bleeding or little to no bleeding because your body is still growing and changing and the reactions can change with it. If you find that this pill changes you in ways you're not fond of, it's okay to change pills. Just be sure to go through at least three months of it (unless you're told otherwise by your doctor) as this is when your body will either settle down to the changes or not. If it doesn't, ask yourself if you want to try a fourth month and go from there. If it just doesn't work, then it doesn't work. Keep a log of new or odd symptoms and changes during your three months and be sure to talk to your doctor about it. 💕

I used to take it a couple years ago i had issues with it only because ididnt take it properly which made me very very sick
