How long did it take to get over your ex?

My boyfriend recently broke up with me. We were together for 3 and a half years, he's the love of my life so honestly I don't think I'll ever get over him, which scares me because everyday is getting harder and I don't know how I'm going to cope without him. So I wanted to know how long it took you to get over your ex?

I had a boyfriend in high school for 4 years. 
When we broke up I felt like I'd never ever get over it. 
It took me 3 months of tears & heartache. Then you get to an angry stage & that's the best part. You start to realise how much you're better off. Once you see that your life is much better without that person you start to think how you were ever with them. 
I know it's hard to understand now but in time you'll wonder how you were ever with that person.
