How effective is birth control? I hear doctors say it works 99.9% of the time but I have heard so many stories and even have friends who now have babies who were on birth control. IV been taking mine for about 4 months and my S/O no longer pulls out. I take it every day at the same time maybe 5 mins off. Should I worry about possibly becoming pregnant? Should I take more precaution?

The most likely cause of pregnancy when people are using birth control is user error. So not taking the pill at the same time every day, or taking it 2 or more hours late. If you vomit or have diarrhea within 3 hours of taking the pill it counts as a missed pill because your body didn't have time to absorb it all and should use condoms until you have taken 2 days worth of pills on time for 2 days in a row. There are medications that make the pill less effective, St John's wort oil, antiseizure meds, meds for high blood pressure, meds for TB, some antifungals, antibiotics. Also storing pills incorrectly, it says on the back what temperature to store them between. Or taking pills past their expiration date. Also some women probably get pregnant if they get drunk or have an altered state of mind and don't take their pills on time.

The only reason as to why BC fails is due to user error.
The effectiveness of a combo pill is 99.7%. The one of the mini pill is debatable, but it's considered to be 99.5%.
You're safe since you take your pills correctly. Make sure not to throw up and have diarrhea 4 hours after taking the pill, and be careful which antibiotics you use. Together with that and never missing a pill, you're very safe!
