Are you aware of B STREP infection ?

Question

I just wanted to know how many people are aware of B STREP infection during pregnancy and labour and if you have your own personal labour/pregnancy stories that incorporate B STREP.

If you are not aware and are pregnant please research as I was only told I had it a week before induction if I knew before hand in could of had longer to prepare myself for it.

(The birth of my son was beautiful but soon after that it was emotionally draining as he caught the infection and was very very ill)

I don't want to scare people I just want to make everyone aware !!!

I've had strep b with all of my pregnancies. 
It's an iv antibiotic during labor. 
It's not scary...

GBS, even with antibiotics, can cause baby to get extremely sick and at risk of dying. It's so important to get newborns medical attention if they are sick! Sorry your experience was scary but hoping you all made it through OK.

I tested positive with my second pregnancy. It wasn't a big deal. As soon as they started my pitocin, they started my antibiotics and kept me hooked up to the antibiotics until my daughter was born.

I was step b pos my last pregnancy, not a huge deal, just went in right after my water broke and they started me on antibiotics. Nothing to really stress about.

I had it with my 3rd pregnancy. I had to be induced because I had pre eclampsia so there was plenty of time to give me the antibiotics. I didn't end up needing them because I had an emergency csection due to cord prolapse though.

Had it. Didn't get the full dose of antibiotics as no one took my labour seriously... so they monitored my baby, proteins were elevated after birth so she needed antibiotics for a while after. All fine in the end.

Found out at the swab at late 30 something weeks.  Elective induction at 39 weeks because i evict early (nothing to with strep b) got my doses of antibiotics everyone was completely normal healthy!

I had it with my son. I had a precipitate labor though and didn't have time to get the antibiotic in time. I was 9 1/2 centimeters when I got to the hospital. They gave me an IV, but the medicine kept flowing back into the tube. I didn't get to hold my son when he was born for like, 15-20 minutes, my husband actually saw/held him first. We had to stay an extra day in the hospital too so they could monitor him, but (luckily) he was ultimately fine.
