On a child's ears getting pierced? Does it hurt them in your opinion? Should they wait till they're old enough to make a decision?
I pierce ears and today we had a infant come through who absolutely refused her ears to be pierced and I thought I'd ask.
ALL opinions are okay. But don't bash someone for their beliefs please!

It's just a piercing. It's not necessary but it's not a wrong thing to do. I got mine done as a baby and was told I slept through it. When I was 13 I asked to get a second hole pierced. Now I hardly wear earrings and I don't feel like my mother committed some horrible crime against me. It's just a piercing.

I will never take my children to get piercings until they can legally walk into a professional piercing shop that has 100% sterile equipment and trained piercers. I wish my parents would've done the same with me. And if course a piercing hurts a child. It hurts for anyone. 😂

I think the earlier a baby's ears are pierced the better. They won't remember the pain that way. I had my daughters ears pierced and she cried for like 10 seconds. Her vaccinations shots were more painful. Totally for it.

I think EVERYONE has bodily autonomy, including 3 month olds. If they can't consent to a change on their body, it shouldn't be done. If they ask to get their ears pierced when they're older, awesome. But piercing babies ears just shows to everyone around you that you don't think your baby is their own person. Guess what. They are

I'm against it. There's no reason to pierce a baby's ears. None, zero, zilch. It's unnecessary pain and it takes away their right to their body. I don't care if you're the parent or whatever your reason is, it's not okay. Not your body, not your decision, period.

My honest personal opinion, I think having there ears pierced should be at an age where they can ask themselves for it doing, clean them themselves, and take good care of them afterwards. Why put a baby through so much pain for fashion. I mean people say it Dosent hurt, but it does! Just because there babies they still feel pain :(  most places won't do children under a certain age limit now. obviously I am not judging anyone at all that does have there children's ears peireced. This is totally my opinion with MY kids.

I think it's up to the parents. A lot of people pierce their kids ear young. To some it's cultural, to some it's to save the kid from going through it later when they'll remember. To some it's easier to care for while healing. And to some, they just think it's cute. :-) As long as they are being safe and sterile, more power to them. Personally, I would wait till they were a little older. I remember when I got mine done. My sister and I both got to have them done when we were 10. It was a birthday thing.

I feel like it's not as deep as people try and make it. I got my ears pierced as a baby and honestly never thought twice about it. Do it or don't do it I mean if the child doesn't like it when theyre old enough to make a decision they can let the holes close ..

I think it, along with circumcision, is totally and completely unnecessary.

I wish I would have had mine done as a baby, because now any time I try to have my ears pierced they never heal. And I've had other facial piercings and used to have my nipples pierced and they were all fine. So I'm not sure why my ears react that way. But anyways, I don't think it's that big a deal. It hurts for like a second. As long as the parents go to an actual professional tattoo/piercing place and not some shit show at the mall where they use a piercing gun 😨 those are a no no.
