This is a PSA to all people to let you know that you should never say "It's not the worst thing in the world" to someone who is struggling with infertility.
What is the worst thing in the world?
How is it decided?
How is it measured?
The worst thing in the world is personal to each person.
To someone who trained their whole life to make it to the Olympics, breaking their foot a week before the games might be the worst thing in the world.
To someone whose passion it is to play a sport/instrument/paint, being diagnosed with a condition that prevents them from ever doing it again might be the worst thing in the world.
I have wanted to be a mother MY WHOLE LIFE. Maybe TO ME, infertility IS the worst thing in the world.
Instead of trying to belittle my feelings about what I am struggling with, try to be an emotional support for me. Say things like "I'm here if you ever need to talk", "Let me know if there is anything I can do to help", "I can go to your doctors appointments with you", etc.
Consider yourself extremely blessed if you do not understand the pain of infertility.
This battle is hard enough as it is. We really don't need the extra anguish of having to explain and justify why we feel the way we feel 😞💔
