do second chances exist?

My boyfriend cheated on me and had been lying to me about numerous issues but silly things, of course, I love him & want to fix things but would rather move on if I knew he would do it again.
He cheated on me with his ex girlfriend, but over the phone. ( of what I know and saw) 
I broke up with him immediately but recently started seeing him again and very hesitant on how to save my self from hurt, I am willing to work on things and move forward but can I trust him.

I would never be able to take someone back after they cheated, I would never be able to trust them again, which will cause on going issues in the future, I.e me snooping through their shit all the time, questioning there whereabouts, it's just not worth the stress in my opinion, my advice would be to just move on and start fresh with someone else who values you

My husband cheated too, and lied about numerous things. I gave him chance after chance and it hurt me, badly. I'm permanently changed by what he did. Had I let go and walked away the 1st time, I doubt it would have changed me this much. But, he's since done a complete 180. He is open and honest. He thinks through his choices more and is less selfish. He was worth all the extra chances, he was worth holding on to. I still have bad days, i still have days where i want to run away and he understands and is patient. If you stay, be prepared for horrible days, be prepared to sometimes hate the fact that you stayed. Stay, If you think he could be trusted again, that's he's truly sorry, and he'll will do whatever it takes to keep your relationship healthy.

Move on . It will be hard to trust again and there will be times where you will remember what he did and feel like shit . If you stay with a cheater you will be constantly worrying and questioning everything .

You can never know if he will do it again. I will say that if you want to avoid any unhappy situations in your future, you're better off not getting back with someone who has already proven to be untrustworthy. He showed you who he is, it's up to you whether or not you believe it. I'm not saying that people cant change, but it's unlikely. I spent 7 yrs of my life taking back a cheater. After that  I vowed to always love myself more than I love any man who cheats on me.

I'm so sorry for your heart ache, but yes I do believe in second chances. I made a huge mistake when I was 16 and my now husband was 18. I cheated on him and it tore him apart. He took a few days to cry and naturally be heartbroken. He returned to me and said I forgive you. I didn't have his trust right away, which is natural. And there was days where he didn't know how to look at me. But with immense amount of talking and crying together, we got through it. We are now coming up on 11 years together, married for almost 2 years, and we have an adorable 16 month old son. And trying for baby #2. I think the key to second chances is to now that once you decide to forgive the person, you can no longer hold it over their heads. You can't bring it up to hold against them in arguments, you can't constantly hold them on trial when they are leaving your side. Forgiving someone for a discretion means that you do exactly that- forgive them. I know it's hard, and rightfully so. But we actually learned that advice later on after the incident by a relationship coach when we were getting married. Good luck sweetheart! And I hope your heartache eases soon.
