what's your baby feeding story?

Ladies-I remember stressing so much about whether or not I'd be able to breastfeed.  Here we are 7-months and going strong.  It has not been easy as a full-time working mom-but it has been amazing.  The bonding has been awesome.

We have had our struggles - thrush 3 times!!  Ugghh- talk about wanting to quit.

My girl went on a nursing strike when she was 5-months old for a week and I was devastated.  But I kept at it and she relatched.  We have been going strong since.

Recently went on vacation to Mexico and it was so nice not to worry about what she was going to eat.  By the way-the 2 shirt method is amazing to be discreet in public.  Especially since my mini hates being covered by a blanket.

At first i was so embarrassed to show my boobs and now I don't care.  My babe needs to eat - she needs to eat - end of story.

Also-at first I was all about "breast is best" and now I realize this shit is hard - "fed is best" END OF STORY.  We have to support everyone's journey-regardless of what path they take.

Started baby on puréed solids at 6-months and about to start baby led weaning and I'm freaking out!

How is everyone else's journey going?

My son wouldn't latch for the first THREE months. I exclusively pumped for that time. Then one day he magically latched on at 3 months old! He is almost 8 months old now and we are still going g strong. I work 40 hours a week and haven't supplemented him once surprisingly. Oh and I am making enough milk to donate to another baby! 😊

Baby didn't latch for first5 days after birth! It was devastating and we used donor milk and some formula. Went to a breastfeeding clinic on the 5th day and he latched right away, now have been exclusively breastfeeding almost 7 months later!

My husband and I are going to mexico in a month (without baby) for a few days. What part did you go to? Did you notice mosquitos? I'm a little nervous to leave baby for 4 days but he will be eating frozen milk I have pumped and I will be pumping the days I am away.

I tried hard to BF my daughter, but she wouldn't latch and my boobs once again proved to be two useless flat blobs. So I resigned myself to that fact and gave up pumping for an ounce of milk. My daughter thrived on way overpriced formula and now she eats a little of what I eat (veggies, yogurt, fruit). My life and hers got a lot easier when I let go of the BF dream. I commend women who tough it out and BF against all odds, but for those who can't, it doesn't make you any less of a mother and you can bond with your baby just as well as those who Bf!

I wasn't able to breastfeed for too long. My daughter would latch, but she refused to suckle on the breast. I talked to pros, and nothing helped. I pumped exclusively for a little over a month. At one point, I was pumping 60 oz a day. Then, when she was just over four weeks old, my milk dried up overnight. I tried to get my supply back, I tried other methods to get her to latch, but nothing helped. I didn't even need to pump for comfort. It was just gone. We tried one formula that didn't agree with her at all. We eventually switched to the store brand of Gentlease, and she's done fine. She has had some constipation issues, especially since she started solids, but nothing a little prune juice won't cure. She actually prefers solids these days, but she likes her bottle, too. I think she's mostly a fan of food lol 😂 I agree that all the journeys are important in this regard, and as long as your baby is fed and healthy, then you're doing great! Being a mom is hard, so I appreciate the supportive attitude. Thanks for sharing. 😊

We're going on 7 months of exclusively pumping. We still try to latch but most days she's not having it. She hasn't gotten a full feeding from my breast since she was 6 days old. Pumping is exhausting and I wish more than anything she would just latch but I'm grateful that I respond to a pump and we even have a small freezer stash.! I supplemented with a can of formula when she was a month old but other than that she has only ever had breast milk! My pumpling is what keeps me going!
