Materniti21 Results Positive for Trisomy 13.
When the doctor called and told me on Monday, it felt like the worst day of my life. My husband wanted the genetic results bc I'm older at the ripe age of 37. I really just wanted to know the gender early. I never thought anything would actually be wrong. Well, it's a boy. Which is great bc we have a 14 month old girl. I'm praying for a miracle. Praying that the results were wrong. Went in yesterday for a CVS and decided against it bc he looked good in the ultrasound, meaning we just couldn't see any abnormalities. So we'll wait 2 more weeks to do an amnio which has a1 in 300 chance of miscarriage vs the CVS which is a1 in 100 chance. Babies with Trisomy 13 usually miscarry or if they make it to birth they don't survive, life expectancy is less than a month with some living only minutes. I'm only writing all of this bc I was seeking information here on this site and couldn't find it. Hoping that all will be well and my story will be a testimony to the next mom. The specialist said Materniti21 tests really well for Downs but not as good for the other Trisomies. What my dad said is helping me get through for now... "if you only have faith when things are going well, then that's not faith. You have to have faith when things aren't going well too". So I'm being cautiously optimistic but I'm prepared for the worst. This little bean has been such a blessing to us already. Should he not make it in to this world we've still been blessed beyond measure. I know I'm rambling and no one will read all of this but I just had to get it out. Because we were high risk with my daughter we haven't even told many people we're pregnant at all.
