Seriously HEAVY period after Mirena IUD?!? Help!

Brittany
SO - I had the Mirena IUD the full five years. I got it taken out the first week of January. And did not have another placed, and didn't start another type of bc. That night and the following next 4 days, I was cramping pretty badly and had a light period.
Disclaimer - I had a monthly period with my mirena. I suffer from migraines with aura.. so that's why I kept it in because I cannot be on the pill and didn't want babies with my boyfriend of 5 years (yet😎). And each period was typically prettyyyy crampy. Lasted around 5-6 days.
My actual period started Friday. Late. Then, Saturday morning, at work.. wow. I have NEVER.... EVER.... experienced that amount of pain. I have never had to leave work because of period cramps. I'm a stylist, and made it through one client and had to leave. And I couldn't even drive home! I made my boyfriend come get me. Rocking back and forth, pale in the face, sweating, crying, trying not to throw up.. THAT painful. I thought my periods were painful before??? HAHAHA!
Not only is this excruciating, it is SO heavy! I was ready to go to the hospital sat night because I could not believe how heavy it was. And the clots.... oh my god.
Almost everything I've read has reassured me that this is normal.. but it would be nice to talk to actual PEOPLE who have experiences with their first period after the having their mirena removed.
How long did your first period last???
When do you say "ok.. enough is enough, time to call the doctor/go to the ED"
Are my periods doomed to be this heavy and painful now forever??? How long does it take for your period to "normalize"?
Anything else I could know??
I've been on BC since I was 15. I'm 26 now.. and this is the first time I've ever not been on birth control. Was in the pill and took it religiously for years.. they took my off it because of my migraines.. tried the depo. And landed with the mirane. I loved it.. insertion was a B... removal wasn't AS bad.. but not fun lol
My migraines have been bad.. and I just want to see how my body does with no synthetic hormones. (Hopefully much better!) so that's why I didn't start on another birth control..  but I've had the Mirena for the full 5 years.. I can't really remember what it was like before it!
Any experiences, suggestions, advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
