sucking issue..anyone else?

Baby girl was born 3 days ago and breastfeeding has been so hard. She is able to latch but does not suck. She will either just sit there with my nipple in her mouth or start screaming. We worked with the lactation consultant for hours and came up with a plan that I will pump and we will feed her with a tiny tube attached to a syringe while she sucks on my or my husbands finger. As she sucks, the milk comes up. We are trying this to avoid nipple confusion. I try the breast every time before the tube feed and she's starting to suck a little but only 4-5 sucks and then she's done. She seems to be getting stronger when sucking a finger so I hope things start to turn around.
