Ovarian cyst/tumor?

Question

Just over a week ago the ER doctors found a complex cyst on my right ovary that could possibly be a tumor. I have my follow up with my obgyn tomorrow and I'm nervous. she going to recommend removing it. Has anyone had a cyst removed? Why did the dr decide to remove it?

I had my whole left ovary removed because of a cyst the size of a grapefruit. In my opinion it's the best option to have that surgery and get it removed before it becomes a little bit more serious!! Good luck hun

I'll add that they remove it because it's not supposed to be there... They don't always remove cysts with surgery, but when they start causing problems or a lot of symptoms they may. Some can prevent you from ovulating and damage the ovary. Some cysts resolve on their own or with birth control. Depending on the type of cysts, they'll want to make sure it isn't cancerous...

And they can't always tell what kind of cyst you have until it's removed. They thought my cyst was a leftover bit from ovulation, when it was a cyst made up of hair, nails, skin and teeth. (Creepy & gross) It produced hcg, which prevented ovulation. I was glad to get it out!

I had a dermatoid cyst on my left ovary. The surgery was super simple.

i had benign tumor/cyst in my right ovary. they ended up removing my ovary all together because of it. better to just get the cyst removed! the longer it's there it could potentially cause damage or turn into something else. just my opinion though!
