How to tel your dr your ttc?

I feel like my Dr is going to be reluctant to send me a referral to a ob/gyn for a pre pregnancy check up. I'm only 18. But my husband has a good job, we have our own place and 3 paid off cars. And it's all I want. I'm done with high school and have 3 months before I get my BA (which really doesn't matter since i want to be a stay at home mom) my Dr is pretty judgmental I feel. I basically had to tell her I was having sex years before I lost my virginity because she kept implying it and wouldn't give me bc to regulate other wise. What should I do? I'd find a new doctor but my Dr is a family friend and I know I will never hear the end of it

You shouldn't need a referral to an OB/GYN. Just get some revferalls from friends and even online and just call some. Your PCP doesn't even have to be involved.

Please follow up on this. I am 20 and TTC but I am still nervous about getting judged by my doctor. We have been trying for a year and nothing so I want to talk to my doctor but I'm really nervous. You're 18 and you almost have your BA? Eff girl. If your doctor doesn't respect you for that, you need a new doctor. Clearly you have your head on your shoulders. I'll finish my BS in December and I'll be 24. Age clearly doesn't matter in this book. If you're ready, your SO has a stable career, and you have some finances ready, go for it.

You don't need a referral for an OB, but I would get a new doctor that can be 100% unbiased and that you feel comfortable speaking with.

It will suck to find a new doctor but you need to have a doctor who isn't biased toward you. You need a doctor that will listen to you about what you want not just someone who will tell you no. Doctors should be preventing you from getting something like BC just because they don't think you're having sex. It's for so much more than that. You're 18 you don't have to have permission to try to start a family if that's what you want. You really need to sit down and try to find a different doctor as much as you might not want to.

I was 20 and the doctor rudely said. The pregnancy test is negative, that's a good thing u don't want to be a young mommy. I said. I'm 20.. and I'm trying u asshole.
