Verbal Abuse is Abuse
Ladies, just wanted to remind everyone.
Physical abuse is black and white. "He touched my body in a way that I did not like. It was disrespectful/hurt/made me feel bad about myself."
Verbal abuse is also black and white. If you say something, even during an argument to intentionally hurt, demean, illicit a specific reaction (commonly known as manipulate), or disrespect your partner, that is abuse.
Women almost never get called out on abuse, but a LOT of the arguments I see on her, there is a lot of verbal abuse by women against their partners.
Just because you have bad habits from the past doesn't mean they have to continue today. Talk to a therapist, make an active effort to think before you speak, be aware. Whatever works for you, but do something.
Having been in a physically abusive relationship in the past, I know my partner would never admit the abuse he was capable of on a daily basis. Maybe he was a narcissist or maybe it was easier to blame me for pushing him to "that point."
It was NEVER my fault he hit me. And there is NEVER a circumstance, argument or not, to verbally abuse your partner.
