Monistat and Yeast infection

I've had two yeast infections previously so I know what the symptoms are already. A few days ago I started feeling itchy and a burning sensation. I didn't have any chunky discharge though. I just assumed it was just getting started. I went and bought monistat 3 day treatment. Just now I started my first dose. After cleaning up and everything I thought back to earlier today and realized that I hadn't really itched that much. Now I'm nervous that I don't really have a yeast infection. Does anyone know what the consequences of taking monistat without a yeast infection would be?? Thank you!
