natural birth vs epidural?

So I always, always said if I were to have a baby numb me up!! But a friend of mine who has 2 children said that after getting an epidural with her first 4 years ago, she still has back pain where they put the needle to this day, plus it wore off before the gave birth, then she had her second natural. She felt the epidural wasn't worth it because of the pain she has, and she said natural wasn't too bad, but obviously it hurts. What you you ladies think? I would love know experiences and what everyone plans on doing. Oh i also was thinking maybe a bath birth would be nice since they relax me so much.

I had a natural birth with my first, the thought of the needled in my back terrified me !!! 
Currently preg with my 2nd and planning on going natural again.

I was in labor 15hrs, my daughter was flipped so her spin was on mine and her head was tilted back so it was pretty fucking painful !!

Can't wait to do it all again 😂

I had natural births (ds1 I had meptid to take the edge off but still felt everything) and will be aiming for natural this time. With ds2 I had a water birth and would love to have another, I feel it really helped with the pain while giving birth (I was only just in before I started pushing) as it helped with the crowning of his head. 
I don't think you can really say how you'll cope until it's happening and there will be a point where you'll either beg for pain killers or say you can't do it...it's usually when transition hits and you're almost done.

I never had the epidural with my first and my back is still a bit messed up its been 5 years.

I had 2 epidurals and they were positive experiences. I had back pain afterwards from the labor and delivery, not exactly where the injection was but lower. That's not from the epidural. I did have a knot in my back for weeks where my last epidural was, but a massage therapist got it right out and I was fine. Also when I got the epidural I told the anesthesiologist I don't want to get it too early because I don't want it to wear off,  because I kept hearing women say it wore off during pushing. The anesthesiologist laughed and said it does not wear off, but some Dr's TURN IT off when it's time to push and don't tell you so it won't freak you out. I asked my Dr for a low dose of the meds so it just took the edge off but I still felt the contractions and pushing and I told my Dr that he could lower the meds a little while pushing but do not turn it off. There are options with the epidural. You can of course try without it, but I wouldn't be scared to get it, I'd get one again.

I had my baby 3 weeks ago and had an epidural at 2cm, I have back issues so the pain was worse than the contractions. Had the epidural while having a contraction and I didn't even feel the needle, glad I had the epidural as my placenta didn't detach and had to ho to theatre 20 mins after delivery. Natural birth means vaginal so whatever you decide make sure you are happy about your decision. Emergencies happen and epidurals do make a difference 🤔😄

My sister had two epidurals and she is still moaning about her back pain 5 years later.
I gave birth naturally without any meds, I was about to die then my girl saved my life...

I had a epidural with my first child and I also regret having one. Seemed more of a hassle than anything. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant and plan on a natural birth if I'm capable 😊 The anesthesiologist placed the needle in the wrong spot and had to replace the needle again. Now honestly I'm just terrified of having a epidural again. But I've heard many women do just fine with the epidural. I think it all depends on how good the anesthesiologist is.
