Do you own your life or does the government own your life?

Euthanasia is a hot topic in politics! It means suicide by the assistance of a medical doctor. What do you think, should this be legal? A federal law may be passed very soon...

I dont think people should be forced to suffer if they dont want to. Diseases, cancer, ect. You shouldnt have to live through that if you dont want to.

when our cat had severe lung cancer (fluid build up, cancer spilled out of the lung, lung collapsed, couldn't breath, etc.) we put her to sleep so she wouldn't suffer and wouldn't go through a horrible agonizing death. when my GRANDFATHER went through the exact same thing, we had to watch as he painfully deteriorated-- couldn't talk, couldn't eat, couldn't breath, until he eventually died. it's infuriates me that we allow pets to have more humane and dignified deaths than our human family members.

What does this have to do with the government "owning your life"? As far as I know, most debates and attempts to make it legal usually state that the patient has to give consent. I'm for it, especially if someone knew they were dying and didn't want to deal with the complications and pain they are experiencing.

Euthanasia should be allowed per the request of the patient, especially in sotuations where the person doesn't have any loved ones to control when the plug will be pulled, but this doesn't mean the government controls or owns your body......

If the person has a life threatening illness and they already know they're going to die soon, it's unethical to let the suffer and be in pain the rest of their life rather than just letting them go peacefully by choice.
