Birth control method preference? Please comment experiences/opinions

Haruko

So, I'm currently on the pill and have been for 5 years but I'm wanting to switch up my birth control method due to side effects. My OB/GYN thinks the nausea I'm getting is due to the pill having to go through my digestive system, so I didn't want anything I'd have to swallow or anything I'd have to wear or get a shot for due to the amount of hormones. My insurance is also getting to the point to where they won't cover my pill brand anymore, and the generic of it makes me even sicker and I can't afford $50/mo for a small pack of pills.

At the moment, I'm in between these 3 methods. My gynecologist gave me two free samples of the nuvaring to try out after my pack of pills for this month ends, so I'm going to try that first. I'm not sure if I will like it but I just wanted to get some opinions and experiences from ladies who've tried one (or more) of these methods. Did you have any side effects? What were the pros and cons? With the IUD, how bad did it hurt to get put in (on a scale of 1-10)? I don't have children so the doctor said they'll have to dilate my cervix and it'd be painful. Kinda scares me but I just wanted to hear from people who've experienced it.

Thanks for reading. ☺
