I'm listening to AM 650 and they are talking about California teachers are teaching tenth graders to get consent when being sexual every ten minutes.

What are your thoughts?

Like the health teacher said in the screenshot, it's not the timing it's when you escalate things to another level. So when you go from making out to touching their genitals, ask if that's okay. When you want to go from touching to oral, ask first. When you want to go from oral to vaginal/anal sex, ask first. If you want to get rough, ask first. They're saying to ASK FIRST. I totally agree with teaching people to ask for consent BEFORE the act, not after. Nothing wrong with making sure your partner is comfortable with what you two are doing. Go California!

It's honestly a shame that this isn't like a natural instinct so some people.. I've never had a sexual partner (even though I haven't had many) that didn't ask "are you okay" or "am I hurting you" or the super nasty "you like that shit" lol but no seriously this does need to be taught as a common courtesy with sex, in school and at home by parents..

I work at a high school. Our kids are responding positively to the sex Ed program we have that has multiple class sessions on consent and healthy relationships.

I don't think ever 10 minutes. But if I'm with someone new I'd appreciate if they asked if it was ok before they went to another step like if we're hot and heavy making out and he goes to take off my shirt say "are you ok with this?" And if things go further and I'm laying there naked say "are you sure you want to do this?" Before just sticking his dick in me. But I don't think a guy needs to keep asking for consent during the sex unless I tell him to stop or my attitude changes. And if it's someone I've been with for awhile I'd find it weird if they asked me every 10 minutes 😂

I feel like I'm the only person who would get annoyed at someone asking if I want sex. If I want it you'll know. If I'm in bed half naked with you do you have to ask? If someone asked every time they went up in intimacy they'd never get sex because I'd get pissed off half way through and go watch TV.

It's sad that things have gotten to a point where this is necessary. I would say in my personal experience there are a lot of ways to ask for/give consent than straight up "do you consent" "yes I consent", but for some people maybe they need to be more straight forward
