relationship advice

So I'm kind of dating this guy (we aren't official yet) but recently he seems to be getting annoyed at everything I say. We've been texting and he told me I was a bad communicator and I said sorry and he told me over apologizing was annoying. Then he told me I was being over sensitive when I got offended that he called me annoying. I really like him, and I don't want to make him sound like a jerk because he's definitely a really nice guy and a total gentleman. But I don't know how to talk about things without seeming to annoy him. How do you recommend I bring up how we were fighting without starting another fight?
