Do tampons hurt after inserting them?

I have never used a tampon but I am going on a cruise and I have dance competitions so I will need to use them this year. Are they painful cause I don't handle pain well and do they slow down your period at all and if so by how much?? Plz help

It shouldn't hurt if you put it in all the way. It can be uncomfortable when you take it out of there is not a lot of blood but that will get better as you get used to using them

It should not hurt. If you are having trouble putting it in put some Vaseline on the tip. I totally understand that it is scary and I get that you have to wear one for dance because I was a competitive gymnast and got my period at age 13. On my first period I used a tampon😬 I was at gym and didn't have anything

It will hurt at first because you've never worn one before, but they will hurt if they're not put in the right way. And if you're still not sure, there's instructions inside the box.

They'll only be painful if they aren't in properly. Also it can be painful sometimes to put them in if you aren't already bleeding.

If inserted the correct way, they don't hurt going in, they don't hurt while inside u, and they don't hurt when pulled out

I have a very low pain tolerance, and no. I don't even feel it.
